Technical policy work

An important part of ACCA’s mission is to make a strong and distinctive contribution to all the key debates on technical issues affecting business and accountancy and to represent the interests of its members and their employers in relation to the legislation and professional standards they will have to comply with in the course of their work.

As well as liaising directly with government departments and standard-setting bodies, ACCA works, where appropriate, in partnership with many different professional and business organisations, in the UK and internationally. ACCA is also highly active on international platforms dealing with technical policy issues.

Our technical activities address, in particular, the following areas:

  • auditing and assurance
  • business law
  • corporate governance and risk management
  • corporate reporting
  • public sector accounting and finance
  • SME affairs
  • sustainability
  • tax.

Our staff resources comprise experts in all the above fields. In addition, our work is assisted by forums of expert members from around the world.

In this section you will find:

  • Archive of responses
(copies of recent technical policy submissions made by ACCA)
  • Forthcoming responses
(details of current technical issues being addressed by ACCA, along with information on how ACCA members can submit their own comments)
  • Consultation briefing papers
(background information on issues for consultation)
  • Public affairs briefings
(copies of parliamentary briefings and submissions made by ACCA).
