Public practice
30% of ACCA members work in public practice, in international accounting organisations like the Big Four (Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers) or smaller practices known as SMPs, providing a variety of accounting and business services to clients.
Working in public practice will give you the opportunity to stretch your skills at every stage of your career, offering you the chance to progress to management or partnership positions.
Once qualified, you can choose to specialise in a variety of fields, including tax, insolvency and forensic accountancy.
Want to become an auditor?
Many ACCA students choose to train in the audit field and the ACCA Qualification covers specific skills and knowledge in the specialist area of audit services.
In many parts of the world, ACCA members may become auditors, enabling them to sign off company accounts. For example, ACCA is recognised under UK law and EU statutes to issue audit licences to members who can demonstrate that they have obtained relevant experience and skills.
In other countries, ACCA members may become auditors if they obtain additional local licences or qualifications.
