John Lane
director, PricewaterhouseCoopers, USA
After graduating from university, John began working at the London branch of the merchant bank, Kleinwort Benson.
'While working for Kleinwort Benson, I noticed that most of the people getting promoted and moving into senior positions were accountants. I decided to pursue this career and ACCA was the best option for me because I could sit the exams in my spare time, which meant that my studies wouldn't interfere with my job commitments,' he says.
John relocated to New York after being assigned on a team to help reorganise the bank's US holdings, specifically commercial real estate portfolios. In 1994 he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he is a director and specialises in banking and private equity alternative products. John is also a former president of ACCA US and the New York Tri-State Chapters.
John has successfully completed the ACCA/Oxford Brookes University MBA programme: 'This has been an exceptional experience which helped me develop my financial skills while enabling me to differentiate myself from my peers.'
