For new ACCA member Mercedes Kumoyo Imasiku, becoming a member in our centenary year is a great privilege. 'ACCA membership means that I am a recognised professional accountant and can contribute to the accounting field,' she says. Now working as a senior internal auditor for the Zambia Revenue Authority, Mercedes was promoted after completing her ACCA studies.

'I see myself as a global accountant,' she says. 'ACCA's worldwide membership makes it easier for all members to work in different countries in the world - which is great for accountants working in an increasingly global environment.'

In the future, Mercedes hopes to move into public accounting to obtain further experience in accounting and auditing. 'I am also considering studying for ACCA's MBA programme,' adds Mercedes.
